Another yin yoga class – more food for thought:
During a very heart opening asana, the teacher suggested that we all try and, just for a couple of minutes, drop the walls and the chains we have put around our hearts so tightly to protect it, to hide it away…
Just for a couple of minutes, maybe for the duration of this particular asana, maybe until the end of class, what would it feel like to let go of the walls and the chains? Just to see if maybe we don’t need them anymore…?
That made me think… what if we all did this every day?
What if you let your heart run free for just five minutes a day? Five minutes is not a huge risk, right?
What would you do in that time?
Sing out loud on the subway because your favorite song is playing on you iPod?
Carry out some random act of kindness, because you feel you have so much love to give?
Just stop and stand in the middle of the sidewalk and feel the sun on your face?
Make snow angels or jump into a puddle in your pretty business outfit?
Maybe five minutes will at some point turn into ten? Or 30? An hour?
What would YOU do in your five minutes? What WILL you do in your five minutes?
Does the idea terrify you, or does it inspire you? A little bit of both maybe?
